than 30 miles and depending you you're traveling there is good news and bad news. phil lebeau explains. >> reporter: there is good news and bad news for those traveling this thanksgiving weekend. let's start with the good news. gas prices 3.$3 3.20 a gallon. >> people will travel more than when it was close to $4. >> i think more people will travel. i think for sure, but is it really cheaper? no, not that cheaper. >> reporter: the average amount expected to be spent on thanksgiving trips this year will be $465. experts disagree about whether or not the overall amounts spent on trips will be the same or dip a little lower. for its part, the u.s. travel association expects the amount spent on thanksgiving travel to be up 1 to 2%. >> when it comes to travel, people will travel to see families, to be with friends and that will mean a lot of congestion at the airports. >> reporter: the bad news for thanksgiving travelers is reserve for the 3 million who are flying. travel os city says the average round trip is $415, up almost 7%, mainly because planes will be packed and airlines have few if

to lagging sales. our phil lebeau explains in chicago. hey, phil. >> reporter: this is about the new vehicle that lincoln has unveiled today, called the mkc. let's look at it. it's really a small crossover utility vehicle. they're calling it a small suv. but it's built on a car platform. it will start at just under $34,000. now, lincoln is hoping the mkc captures the growing demand for small suvs and luxury crossover utility vehicles. year-to-date, lincoln sales down 3%. they've had no traction at all, while the luxury market overall is up 11%. but the head of lincoln says he believes things are starting to turn around. >> as the luxury business is about brand, it's about contribution margin, and it's about customers buying the best product. and we are really pleased to see that our price on the new mkc are up almost $6,000. our hybrid mix is over 30% now, which is something we didn't expect, frankly. >> reporter: so there are some metrics that are moving in favor of lincoln, which really has been stuck in the mud for a long time. but jim farley thinks they can bring it around. the showrooms

on the verge of an unprecedented deal that will get the company through the bulk of its orders. phil lebeau has the details out of chicago. good morning, phil. >> reporter: good morning. this is important for boeing and machinists. they're saying are we're sure we're going to have labor peace through the rest of the decade? that's what it looks like as they're close to signing a deal. for boeing as they close in on this deal, the labor contract, if they agree to a new one, would ensure the 777x, that it would largely be assembled in the puget sound area. what does boeing get out of this deal? a new contract that would run through at least 2020 and perhaps several years after that, ensuring labor peace for boeing for several years, which is going to be critical as they go through the rest of this decade. you've got to go back to 2008, the last time that boeing had to deal with a strike by the machinist union. when you look at boeing's back log, the important thing is boeing wants the certainty about the fixed labor costs for more than 4,700 planes. this is a all-time record. the value, $345 bill

are not so happy about black friday. let's go to chicago. phil lebeau will have the rest of that story. >>> leanne gregg reporting for us in denver. we're going to jump real quickie to the white house because we wanted to show this to everybody. as you can see the first family is out front to welcome the christmas tree that has just arrived there at the white house. and we see the first lady along with the two dogs there and her children as well as the big christmas tree for america's house comes into view. we'll get a better shot of this but we know the president and first family, they spent the holiday at the white house yesterday. we had the listing of pies, nine different pies. yesterday the president making phone calls to our service members to thank them for their service and wish them a happy holiday. there we see the first family greeting the christmas tree that's going to be up and for everybody's viewing pleasure at the white house shortly. we see it pulled in and just amazing, look at those horses too. >>> so we take you back from the white house on to walmart as leeann had
